Danner, M., Érard, C., & Guégnard, C. (2021). Professional baccalaureate students in STAPS with no illusions, but “motivated”. Agora debate/youth, (87), 7-24. Available at https://www.cairn.info/revue-agora-debats-jeunesses-2021-1-page-7.htm.

Vocational baccalaureate holders thwart statistics by going to university. This article underlines the weight of sports commitments on pathways to higher education, (dis)orienting them towards studies in Sciences and Techniques of Physical Activities and Sports (STAPS). Far from being under the illusion, in particular, of a possible conversion of sporting skills into academic success, these atypical baccalaureate holders speak very widely of their risky and/or daring orientation. These young people, who are trying to escape the social fate associated with their baccalaureate, are, however, driven by another tenacious belief, that of the importance of ‘motivation’.
