The aim of this work is to analyse the effect of initial and in-service training of secondary school teachers in France on their teaching practices. So we carry out a secondary analysis of data from TALIS (Teaching and Learning International Survey), conducted in 2013 in 34 countries including France. In particular, we focus on practices related to the pedagogical methods used, the management of the classroom, the way of transmitting and the evaluative practices of teachers. Using binary logistic regression models, we show that variables related to initial training play a weak role, or even have a negative effect on certain teaching practices, leading to a reflection on the renovation of this training. On the other hand, our analyses underline the greater weight played by certain lifelong learning activities.
