Open Position WU Vienna

The Institute for Higher Education Management is currently inviting applications for a 30 hours/ week Teaching and Research Associate position (pre-doc, employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff – Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; minimum gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 2,022.38, recognition of previous employment – if relevant to the advertised position – possible). This employee position will be limited to a period of 6 years, starting on October 1st, 2016 (commencement date subject to change).
Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who have already been employed at WU in a Teaching and Research Associate position can only be re-employed in an Assistant Professor, tenure track position.

Responsibilities

  • participating in research, teaching and administration at the Institute
  • supporting student work
  • holding classes independently and conducting examinations
  • independent research activities
  • possibility to work on an own dissertation at WU

Profile

  • university degree (master or equivalent with excellent grades) in the social sciences, business administration, higher education or related disciplines
  • academic achievements above average
  • be highly proficient in spoken and written English

Additionally

  • experience in the field of (international) higher education management
  • publication record and research work in the field of higher education
  • experience in conduct of research work is of advantage
  • quantitative and/or qualitative methods (SPSS, QCA, etc.)
  • practical experience in higher education management is of advantage
  • initial experience in university teaching is of advantage
  • be effective in independently organizing and structuring tasks
  • have international experience including a network of scholars
  • motivation, creativity and reliability
  • able to work structured and independently
