The undergraduate internship: a tool for success? – Slore 1 and Slore 2

Project manager : Claire BONNARD

Other researchers involved : Jean-François GIRET, Arthur SAWADOGO

Partners : Nathalie DROYER (FOAP AgroSup) https://foap.cnam.fr/le-laboratoire/membres/nathalie-droyer-1052962.kjsp

Summary :

This research project proposes to question the place of internships in the pedagogical curricula of bachelor’s degrees, particularly in the third year of a bachelor’s degree, whether general or professional.

The growing importance of professionalisation linked to the issues of orientation and professional integration of students has led teaching staff to integrate internships into their courses in various forms, whether optional or mandatory. Several questions arise concerning the difficulties of access to internships, but also the quality of the training content of the internships and their effects on the student’s subsequent academic career, particularly concerning his or her success in the bachelor’s degree, orientation in the master’s degree, integration or possibly geographical mobility.

The first part of the project (SLORE1) is based on a mixed methodology, which integrates quantitative evaluation analyses of success mechanisms and qualitative work in professional didactics to understand the formative dimension of the internship and the valorisation of learning in a work situation by the teaching teams. In particular, a survey was conducted on 1000 L3 students at the University of Burgundy. The second part of the project (SLORE 2) is part of a longitudinal and more qualitative approach to complete the first analyses.
